How to create and save your own sample instrument in Kontakt?

Creating:

  1. Use the File > New instrument button to create (right panel)
  2. Hit the ‘Toolbar’ icon, left of the new instrument
  3. Select Mapping Editor
  4. Select and drag all the samples from the left Browser into the Mapping Editor, keep your mouse click down, and drag UP and DOWN to determine how many keys/zone to cover for each WAV. (looking at Tips below, you should create a folder for your instrument and for the WAV files, add a ‘Samples’ behind. i.e. ‘Jeric Darker Me Samples’)
  5. Toggle the Keyboard button at the Right panel > Top row of icons to see clearly where each key is at.
    1. Saving as (Patch + samples + use default sub directory)
    2. Not compressing for now, although early research says it loads faster (research says we can uncompress later but need to figure how in the future)
    3. Not creating monolith for now, for future convenience? Need to figure if we can unmonolith.

Saving:

Consider clearing Database / check for duplicate files / instruments, especially if you had older Komplete and new ones

Tips:

Creating my own instrument set/pack for this song. Kontakt has a default behavior of -6db on new instrument load, so before creating, remember to AMP +6db volume for an instrument at Kontakt Tool (box/button/toggle) > Amplifier section. (Volume + Pan area orange knobs)
– Added woodblock reverb new instrument into Jeric instrument pack. It is a percussion with EQ, Dubstation (delay), and Reverance Reverb eq.

Export the sound wav, and paste into Jeric Custom Sounds > Jeric Darker Me Samples.
Drag the wav into instrument editor in Kontakt.
Instrument should be 6.0 Volume at Instrument Edit Mode > Amplifier. (Kontakt automatically -6.0 for all instruments in settings..)
Remember to save, Kontakt > Files > Save as..
